Andy Sinton was today coming to terms with his "most frustrating" night in management after seeing AFC Telford United dumped out of the FA Cup by nine-man Buxton.

Telford were beaten 5-4 on penalties by the Evo-Stik League premier division minnows following a game which finished 2-2 after extra-time.

But boss Sinton vowed to take a "wounded animal" into Saturday's clash away to Blue Square Bet North leaders Alfreton, backing his players to respond.

"It's probably the most frustrating night I've had in football, certainly in management," said the Telford chief.

"I probably would have been saying the same had we won the game - our decision-making was appalling.

"I was sore last night but the sun still came up this morning and I'll dust myself down and get the boys at it for training tomorrow.

"They have done great all season. We didn't actually lose the game itself last night so I still say we're 13 games unbeaten and that's something to be proud of.

"We shouldn't need to raise ourselves to go to Alfreton on Saturday," he added.

"We need to aspire to knock them off their perch and I hope we'll be like a wounded animal, ready to bounce back and put this result behind us."

The magnitude of last night's cup shock was not lost on Buxton boss John Reed, whose side will now head to Fleetwood in the fourth qualifying round a week on Saturday.

"You should have been able to write us off in those circumstances," he said.

"We were playing a fantastic football team and to go down to nine men it should have been over. I think it was the best night of my whole career and I've had 32 years as a manager."

* Telford left-back Sean Newton missed last night's FA Cup KO as he was on international duty with the England C team.

The 22-year-old was named in the starting line-up as Paul Fairclough's England side beat Estonia under-23s 1-0 in Tallinn to reach the semi-finals of the International Challenge Trophy.
