Midfielder Kevin O'Connor insists he has made the right decision after turning his back on AFC Telford United to sign for Worcester City.

O'Connor was one of Telford boss Andy Sinton's key targets among last season's squad to retain at the New Bucks Head.

But the former Wolves man revealed that he opted for Worcester because he was impressed by what he heard from their management team of Carl Heeley and his ex-Molineux team-mate Mark Clyde.

"I spoke to Carl and Mark not long after the season finished and I was happy with what they were saying," he said.

"I finished the season at Telford and it's a good club. I was considering the two of them but Worcester came out on top because I thought Carl and Mark handled the negotiations with me really well.

"I think they will put a good team together."

O'Connor is also looking forward to linking up with former Telford striker Mark Danks in what he believes could be a promotion-chasing Worcester side.

"I played with Telford in the Conference North and I don't see any reason why we shouldn't be pushing for the play-offs with the players Worcester have brought in.

"I am fully confident I will be a good asset to the team and form a good partnership with Mark Danks linking from midfield," he added.
