Kickboxers lined up for big fight night

Two prestige fights under K-1 rules headline the return of a full contact kickboxing show to Shropshire at the weekend.

The second in a series of Bai Lang Promotions takes place at the Telford International Centre on Saturay night.

And following the success of the inaugural show in June, this latest event will focus on a range of prestige full contact bouts plus the prestige fights.

Feature fighter on the card is Wolverhampton kickboxing legend Harvey Harra of Team Supreme who, after 22 fights undefeated, switched to K-1.

Facing Harra is top 10 ranked fighter Jay Woodham of Mungkorn Dam in Essex, a veteran of over 30 Muay Thai fights against strong opposition.

Heading the kickboxing line-up is one of Britain's hottest prospects, Qasim Beg of USKA Birmingham, who remains undefeated after 23 amateur full contact bouts and 11 pro bouts (10 by KO).

A potential candidate for fight of the year sees Qasim finally confront highly ranked Scottish fighter, his bitter rival Alexander White (Satorishido).

Local interest lies with reigning IKF English Champion Lee Whitfield from Bai Lang Martial Arts of Hortonwood in Telford.

He will be fighting French champion Sever Mirac of Bordeaux, whose last bout was described as brutal.

Also from the Telford club there's recently crowned European champions Murray Dadswell and Justine Ramsey, who will each be facing tough Welsh opponents under amateur full contact rules.

And cadet fighter Jai Meyrick faces Kieran Lomax of Black Cobra (Stoke) for the IKF Junior British full contact title.

The IKF English amateur title is at stake while Mike Shellis (Cotterill Martial Arts, Shrewsbury) will have his first full contact bout.
