The Scottish centre-back has featured just once for Wolves this season, in the Carling Cup second round win over Swindon.

Wolves chief executive Jez Moxey said: "We bent over backwards to get this deal done because of the way Neill has conducted himself.

"He's been a great servant at Wolves and we wish him every success at Deepdale."

Meanwhile fellow defender Jason Shackell has extended his loan spell at Doncaster until January.

He said: "I'm happy to stay, play some games and help the team while putting in some good performances.

"The gaffer wanted to extend the loan deal and I've enjoyed the past few weeks."
