Refusal for Hanmer bid

Hanmer's bid to be allowed to feature in the Furrows Shropshire Premier Bowls League's play-offs has failed.

The Market Drayton League title-chasers play on a green that is in Wales, which is contrary to Premier League rules.

Their bid to be considered as a special case, having staged a Shropshire county championship match, has been rejected by the Premier's management.

"We have told Hanmer of the decision and assured them we will look at the play-off rules at our October meeting," said Premier chief Mark Burroughs.

Hanmer hope to get over the disappointment by winning the Drayton league for the first time tonight with a big home win over Prees need to pip District.
