The 26-year-old won five games in one day there to become the Civil Service's national champion.

Lord beat D Crabtree (North West) 21-18 in the final earlier this month to claim the biggest honour of his 16-year playing career.

He won £40 in vouchers, which he gave to his son Callum - who is three in November - and a new set of bowls which he gave to his dad Jim, his clubmate at Coddon.

"I won it for my son and my dad," said a proud Lord.

Shropshire will have a fantastic FOUR bowlers chasing glory in the £3,580 Champion of Champions in Blackpool tomorrow.Shrewsbury's Luke Jones was called off the reserve list last night after Warwick & Worcester Merit winner Steve Freer pulled out.

Winner of the Olympic Classic in Liverpool, Jones will play West Brom Open winner Carl Fielding in round one on the Waterloo.

He joins fellow Castlefields young gun Callum Wraight, County Merit winner Peter Farmer (St Georges) and Meole Open champion Andy Moss (Chester Road) in the 32-strong field.

* Pontesbury's players have voted to change tack and have a crack at the Furrows Shropshire Premier League's play-offs.

But first they have to win the Tanners League title at Hanwood tonight.
