Farmer has been named in the England side for the prestigious tournament, which is being staged in Eindhoven.
And he is in elite company as the team is captained by current British Darts Organisation world champion Martin Adams, and includes professionals Tony O'Shea, John 'Boy' Walton and Tony Eccles.
Shaun Greatbatch and Farmer himself complete the squad for the five-man team that will take on Wales, Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland, Scotland and hosts Holland.
Farmer, from Marshbrook, near Church Stretton, has played his part in the English winning the competition for the last two years - and he is determined to complete the hat-trick over the next two days.
"It's absolutely fantastic to be involved in this," said Farmer. "When you're on that stage, it really gets the adrenalin going.
"It's going to be shown on Dutch TV and it might also be on Eurosport as well."
The 41-year-old has been working hard on the BDO circuit in recent months, bidding to earn the points he needs to climb the rankings.
He came to national prominence in the autumn when he reached the quarter-finals of the Winmau World Masters, a tournament screened live on the BBC.
And his most recent outing was in the Swedish Open, where he was beaten in the last 32 by England team-mate Walton.
