Manager Paul Simpson was today refusing to rule Hibbert out of his plans after the striker continued his rapid recovery from a groin problem.

The injury forced him to miss last week's defeat to leaders Rochdale, but so encouraging has Hibbert's recovery been that the Town boss must now decide whether to risk the 14-goal hitman.

"Dave has still got a chance, " said Simpson. "It's probably only a small chance at the moment but we will see how he is after training today.

"But we are not going to take any chances if he is not 100 per cent right."

Should Hibbert be declared fit, it would be a huge boost for Shrewsbury who missed his physical presence against Rochdale seven days ago.

Jamie Cureton, former Aldershot man Jake Robinson and Kris Bright will battle for the striking berths if Hibbert isn't ready.

The only definite absentees are long-term injury victim Craig Disley and suspended defender Shane Cansdell-Sherriff, who serves a one-match ban.

Meanwhile, Simpson has urged his side to do everything within their powers to grasp their promotion opportunity as the 10-game sprint to the finishing line begins.

Shrewsbury dropped out of the play-off positions last weekend and face an Aldershot side who still haven't given up hope of reaching the top seven places.

"It's a huge prize on offer and my message to the players is to fill your boots," said Simpson.

"Everything that we are doing has to be focused around getting promotion for this football club because it's a great thing to be involved in at the end of the season.

"Aldershot's home record is excellent - they have only lost three at home all season and have scored lots of goals.

"But if we go about our jobs properly, we have more than enough to cause them problems."
