We're going back to December 10, 1980, with this shot, which shows the canalside cottage near Crowther Hall, Pool Quay. The photograph comes from our own archives. We're not sure of the relevance of the photo, but at a guess there may have been some sort of discussion about the boarded-up cottage, perhaps with a view to preserving it.

This building in Bridgnorth looks a bit of a challenge – which is exactly what it is. The photo from our files bears the date stamp of January 13, 1965. The story with it said: "A challenge, designed to test the imagination and initiative of Bridgnorth young people, was issued last night by the borough council. They have invited the youngsters to build their own club.

"The Mayor, Alderman Harold Blackwell, spoke of criticisms that the council has not provided much for the youth of this town, and suggested a properly constituted recreational centre governed by a board of trustees. He was given unanimous support for the suggestion that the council should offer, as a temporary headquarters, an almost derelict building at 27, Northgate.

"The property is only a shell. Only the bare bones of a building are being offered by the council and what to make of it is a challenge to the imagination, initiative and resourcefulness of youth, he said."

Come on in, you're welcome! We don't know exactly where this property is, but it is (or was) somewhere around Wellington.

This shows the entrance hall before it was converted to modern standards by Wellington Rural Council. The photo was used in the Shropshire Star of October 29, 1964, together with an "after" picture showing the improvements.

"Wellington Boys' Brigade paraded to New Street Methodist Church on Sunday to attend the morning family service.

The service, which was also attended by members of the Sunday school, was part of the church's gift weekend. At the evening service the minister, the Rev PHW de Visme, dedicated more than £304 which had been given to the church. The service was followed by Holy Communion."

This picture was taken on June 4, 1967.

These women workers were busy at the Russells Rubber Works at Trench Lock on March 13, 1965. Can you work out what they're doing? A clue – the firm made rubber bits and pieces for the car industry. Look again and you'll see they're putting the rubber seal around what looks like the rear window of a small car.

High Ercall Village Hall looks very new in this photo from our files, so it probably is.

The photo was taken on January 7, 1966. It seems reasonable to assume that it had just opened, or was shortly about to open.
