This week's pictures from the past
This week's pictures from the past include the 1981 demolition of Wellington Baths, the Bitterley signal box in the 1930s and a coach stuck at Newton Bank near Bridgnorth.
"Demolition work on the old Wellington Baths has started this week, and yesterday workmen lifted the old boiler weighing more than eight tons out of the building with the help of a mobile crane."
So said the caption to this photo taken on November 19, 1981.
The old baths, which some folk will of course still remember, was replaced by today's swimming pool. nextpage
This view of Bitterley signal box, perhaps in the 1930s, was e-mailed by Bill Moody of Ludlow, and shows part of Shropshire's disappeared railway heritage.
Mr Moody says: "The line from Ludlow to Clee Hill via Middleton and Bitterley was opened in 1861 and closed officially in 1962 so it just made the century of working."nextpage
Newton Bank, near Bridgnorth, has always been a bit tricky for motorists.
This coach came to grief there in 1936 – this photo was used in the Wellington Journal and Shrewsbury News of October 3 that year.
On the face of it, it doesn't look too bad an accident, although the bus must have had quite a few people on it as the caption said: "As a result of this motor-coach striking a tree on Newton Bank, near Bridgnorth, on Saturday, 15 persons were injured."nextpage
The Albright Hussey, near Shrewsbury, is one of Shropshire's historic buildings which can't have changed much over the centuries.
This postcard view is undated but is likely to be from around 100 years ago. It was loaned to us by Mrs Diana Humphreys, of Maesbrook, near Oswestry.

Remember this? This is the Mitchell radio and television shop at the corner of Claremont Street and Mardol, Shrewsbury.
The photo is undated, so you'll have to make an educated guess yourselves based on the fashions. But there is no point in popping along looking for a bargain, because the shop is no longer there.
