Shrewsbury to Wolverhampton trains hit by big delays
Trains travelling between Telford and Wolverhampton were being delayed by more than hour today.
Delays were caused by signalling problems in Wolverhampton and meant that rail passengers were having to wait for 90 minutes on average for some services.
Rail bosses said problems started on the Shrewsbury to Wolverhampton line at about 10.40am.
Network Rail engineers are carrying out repairs and the line to and from Shrewsbury was closed.
Spokesman Keith Lumley said: "We have engineers out there.
"They are installing a new piece of cable to fix the problem."
Passengers were either being diverted via Crewe or being directed to replacement buses.
A spokesman for train operating company London Midland said this afternoon that delays were averaging 90 minutes as engineers worked at the scene, north of Wolverhampton railway station.
London Midland has apologised to passengers for the delays.
