This Bitcoin conference won’t let you buy a ticket using Bitcoin
Does anyone really understand the cryptocurrency?

The North American Bitcoin Conference should be the kind of place you can put away your credit card and use a digital currency to get in, right?
Well, organisers of the Miami conference have just announced that despite their two-day event being focused on cryptocurrencies, they are not accepting Bitcoin payments for tickets.

“Hopefully, next year there will be more unity in the community about scaling and global adoption becomes reality.”
Bitcoin is the most popular cryptocurrency, which is a digital payment system using a decentralised technology, or blockchain, allowing people to make online payments to each other with no need for a central bank.
“We decided to shut down Bitcoin payments for last-minute sales due to print deadlines,” they said.
The conference is on January 18th and 19th, so if you were hoping to bag a last-minute ticket worth $1,000 (£740) using some cryptocurrency you have got lying around, you will have to spend your 0.075 bitcoin elsewhere.
