Julia Buckley served Bridgnorth East on Bridgnorth Town Council.

However, a vacancy for a councillor has now appeared on the town council’s website, stating that Mrs Buckley resigned on January 2.

Anyone who wishes to take on the position has until January 28 to apply.

Mrs Buckley, who is still a county councillor, serving Bridgnorth West and Tasley, became Shrewsbury’s MP at last year’s General Election.

The Labour politician unseated Daniel Kawcznski with a huge majority of 11,355. In doing so, she became the first woman to represent the town as a MP, and ended Mr Kawcznski’s 19-year tenure.
