McLaren’s chief executive has announced the next model to be introduced as part of its Track25 business plan.

Mike Flewitt revealed that this brand new grand tourer will share aspects with the upcoming Speedtail hypercar as well as a heavily camouflaged look at the rear three-quarter of the car.

The model is the fourth car in the brand’s Track25 plan, which is set to comprise of 18 new models and the brand making solely all of its vehicles hybrids by 2025.

“The fourth McLaren to be introduced under the Track25 business plan will be our interpretation of the Grand Tourer,” Flewitt said. “It will be a car that combines competition levels of performance with continent-crossing capability, wrapped in a beautiful lightweight body.

“It’s a car that has been designed for distance and one that will also provide the comfort and space expected of a grand tourer. But with a level of agility never experienced before in this segment. In addition, it will be the lightest of grand tourers and by also having the best power-to-weight ratio, I promise it will be one of the quickest.”

Flewitt wasn’t drawn into confirming the name or final design of the model, but did say that it will be ‘a sleek, beautiful and boldly elegant car’.

This new grand tourer will also be in a class of its own and won’t fit into any of the British marque’s existing series.

More information on the model’s name and full specification is expected to be announced later this year.
