Mercedes-AMG GT four-door becomes fastest series production saloon around Nürburgring
Four-door variant of AMG sports car sets 7:25.4 time around ‘Green Hell’ to become fastest saloon at 12.9-mile circuit

Another day, another Nürburgring record – this time it’s Mercedes-AMG with its GT four-door coupe.
The 63 S 4Matic+ set a time of 7:25.4 around the 12.9-mile ‘Green Hell’ – a new record for a series production saloon car.
‘Series’ is the key phrase here, as Jaguar’s limited-production XE Project 8 set a faster time of 7:21.2 last year, although that’s limited to just 300 examples.
Meanwhile, the Mercedes-AMG GT four-door has no cap on build numbers. In the spec used for the Nürburgring run, it produces 630bhp and 900Nm of torque, which is sent through all four wheels, and can cover the 0-60mph sprint in three seconds flat before reaching a 196mph top speed. Aiding this particular run was a set of Michelin Pilot Sport Cup2 tyres, which are available to customers as an option.
Prices for the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S 4Matic+ four-door coupe start at £135,550. On top of all that performance, equipment includes LED headlights, 20-inch alloy wheels and a 12.3-inch infotainment display. The ‘S’ package also brings the AMG Dynamic Plus package, adding an electronic rear differential, ‘Race’ and ‘Drift’ driving modes and larger front brake discs with yellow callipers on all four corners.
Early adopters of the car can also choose the ‘Edition 1’ launch trim, bringing Graphite Grey satin paint, 21-inch alloy wheels and a handful of aerodynamic tweaks. This starts at £148,950.
Order books for the Mercedes-AMG GT four-door coupe are now open, with first customer deliveries expected in the spring.
