The new S-Design bolsters the 500L line-up

Fiat has bolstered its 500L family car range with a special-edition S-Design specification.

Arriving in showrooms from October, the 500L S-Design builds on the existing Cross version, offering more standard equipment and a sporty look.

The exterior has been treated to matt-bronze paintwork and a contrasting gloss-black roof, along with 17-inch alloy wheels finished in a unique ‘Myron’ colour.

The S-Design, which will be priced from £18,610, also benefits from side mouldings, door handles and door mirror covers treated in the same ‘Myron’ finish.

Inside, the S-Design has been enhanced with a matt-black textured dashboard with a unique copper-coloured ‘500’ logo. The black S-Design seats also get the same copper-coloured logos, along with double stitching for a unique look.

In terms of on-board technology, the 500L S-Design receives Fiat’s latest-generation Uconnect infotainment system, which houses satellite navigation and media functions, as well as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration software. It’s all accessed via a seven-inch high-definition touchscreen.

Just one powertrain is available and that’s a 1.4-litre petrol engine driven through a six-speed manual gearbox. The unit produces 94bhp, giving it a claimed 0-60mph time of 13.7 seconds and combined fuel consumption of 40.9mpg, as well as CO2 emissions of 156g/km.
