Police pick-up truck gets that sinking feeling…
A Port of Liverpool police truck got stranded on a beach in Crosby

A police pick-up truck has been pictured stranded on a beach in Merseyside.
Social media users posted a number of images of the 4×4 stuck in the sand yesterday morning.
The Liverpool Echo reported that the Port of Liverpool Police’s Nissan Navara had been used while looking for a missing woman on Crosby Beach early on Monday but got stuck during the search.
By dawn, it was still in place – giving passers-by the opportunity to share the gaffe.
The beach is famous for its 100 life-size cast-iron statues by Antony Gormley that are dotted along it and stretch into the sea, but it’s also notorious for its quicksands and mud and has warning signs posted along it.
One Twitter user posted an image of the Navara, with an officer gazing at the vehicle while sitting a safe distance away, and commented: “Oooops! Someone is in trouble at Crosby beach!”
Another commented on the image, saying: “That new Sir Anthony [sic] Gormley sculpture at Crosby beach looks so real.”
Along with a different image of the stuck vehicle, one user asked: “How is this police van ever going to get back to dry land or even #Crosby Beach?”
The missing woman was later found safe and well, it was reported, and the truck has since been recovered from the beach.
The Port of Liverpool Police was unavailable for comment.
