Hyundai announces prices and specifications for new Kona Electric
Compact SUV is the latest instalment in a drive towards 18 new electrified Hyundai vehicles before 2025

Hyundai has revealed the full pricing and specifications for its new Kona Electric.
Priced from £29,495 – not including the government’s £4,500 plug-in car grant, which has yet to be confirmed on the model – the Kona Electric is the latest vehicle in a drive by Hyundai to introduce 18 new electrified models by 2025.
Thanks to the latest electric powertrain and battery technology, the Kona Electric is capable of travelling for up to 300 miles on a single charge. The car’s front grille has been closed to improve airflow, while the rear bumper has also been redesigned to aid aerodynamics.
Tony Whitehorn, president and chief executive of Hyundai Motor UK, said: “Kona Electric has already attracted a phenomenal level of interest from customers across the globe and we are expecting demand to be high with limited vehicle availability. Customers that want to be one of the first to own a Kona Electric will be able to place an order from August 2. Test drives will be facilitated through a dealer roadshow in due course.”
Kona Electric models benefit from a wealth of standard safety equipment, including autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian recognition, forward collision warning and smart cruise control.
In addition to the safety equipment, the Kona Electric gets a high specification, with features such as a seven-inch colour display, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and climate control helping to bolster the car’s appeal.

The Kona Electric is available with two powertrains. The first features a 39kWh battery with a 100kW motor, along with the range-topping 64kWh battery with a 150kW motor – it’s the latter set-up that is capable of returning up to 300 miles of range.
The all-electric range for the lower-powered car has yet to be revealed.
All cars have Hyundai’s five-year unlimited mileage warranty and roadside assistance service.
