BMW Motorrad has revealed the Concept Link, an electric motorbike concept that embodies the company’s vision of zero-emission mobility.

The motorbike, which looks like a futuristic scooter, doesn’t take styling cues from existing products – it has been designed from the ground up to use electric power.

As such, the flat battery packs and small motor that powers the rear wheel allow the main body of the bike to sit low down, helping to decrease the centre of gravity.

The instant torque and quick acceleration afforded by the electric motor make the Concept Link ideal for riding in the city, while the low seat height makes it easy to climb on and off in tight spaces.

The bench seat can be moved to be a one-seater with storage but there’s enough room for two people to travel on board.

To emphasise the modern technology at play, many design elements have been deliberately left on show, such as the orange cables connecting the battery pack to the electric drive motor.

The Concept Link is digitally connected to its owner, and can sync with their calendar to help plan routes in the sat nav. The classic instrument panel has been replaced with a head-up display projected onto the windscreen.

Last year, BMW Motorrad revealed the Vision Next 100 motorcycle as part of BMW’s centenary celebrations. The Concept Link takes inspiration from this concept, which featured an electric powertrain and a futuristic design.
