Motorcyclists to hit the road for epic rally
Wide variety of bikes to cover 1,000 miles through Britain
A new event ideal for the owners of classic or custom motorcycles is to cover the length of Britain.
‘The Great Mile’ aims to bring together 100 riders for a 1,000-mile, 72-hour motorcycle rally from the most northerly tip of Scotland to the southern tip of Cornwall.
Organised by Malle London, a British adventure accessory creator, the event is designed for custom, classic, café racer and chopper motorcycles and takes place from August 31 to September 1.
Starting in Castle May, Scotland, the route winds down through Glencoe before arriving at Betws-y-Coed in Conwy, north Wales. From there, continues south, finishing in Cornwall.
Each team taking part will be given a GPS tracker, which will relay progress to a live feed throughout the journey. Mechanics in a support truck will also be on-hand to provide assistance to those who suffer technical issues during the rally.
Those wishing to enter can choose from one of three packages, with the organisers able to provide food and camping gear for the duration of the journey should a team need it.
It will follow in the tracks of ‘The Mile’, another event hosted by Malle London. Taking place from June 30 to July 2, this has been dubbed ‘a gentlemanly motorcycle race and exhibition in motion’ and will include sprint races, hill climbs and moto polo.
