Shrewsbury car enthusiasts are racing to get their hands on the Jaguar XF despite it not being available until next year, according to a town dealership.

Six advance orders have already been placed for the luxury saloon car at Hatfields Jaguar Shrewsbury dealership on Brassey Road.

The production version of the new model will not be revealed until this autumn with customer handovers not until in 2008.

But it seems people in Shrewsbury are keen to get behind the wheel of the award winning 4.2 litre V8-engined C-XF concept car.

Richard Sheehan, general manager at Hatfields Jaguar Shrewsbury, said it had been attracting a lot of interest at the show room already.

He said: "The Jaguar C-XF was unveiled as a concept car at the North American International Auto Show in January and took the exhibition by storm.

The actual production model XF won't be unveiled until the Frankfurt Motor Show in September, but the car is already attracting a huge amount of public interest, and this is reflected in the number of enquiries and orders at our showroom."

The car has won numerous awards including 'Best in Show' at the North American International Auto Show 2007 from US magazine Autoweek.
