Sky at night will be revealed
The wonders of the sky at night will be revealed during an event taking place in one of the county's most beautiful areas.
Hosted by Church Stretton Walking Festival, Stars in Your Skies, which will be led by Richard Hickman will explore how objects in the sky influenced the lives of ancient people.
He will show participants whether people of ancient civilisations could measure time, could they count and calculate, how did they teach their offspring about the mysteries of the skies? This walk will take about an hour and a half and starts and finishes at the National Trust Tea Room in the Carding Mill Valley at the base of the Long Mynd. If the weather is really bad, alternative plans are available.
Although organisers are hoping for clear skies, if this does not happen a back up plan is in place and there may be an indoor astronomy presentation.
The walk takes place on June 22 at 8.30pm until 11.30pm. Tickets are available from www.theoutdoorpoet.co.uk
