Fire engulfs commercial waste in Shrewsbury roadside blaze

Firefighters rushed to a roadside blaze that engulfed three cubic metres of commercial waste blazing on the roadside in a Shrewsbury industrial estate.

Two fire appliances and an operations officer were scrambled from the county town's fire station to Cartmel Drive at 1.36pm following reports of a fire in the open.

A spokesman for Shropshire Fire & Rescue Service said: "Incident involved three cubic metres of commercial waste on roadside.

"Crews used two hosereel jets, two breathing apparatus, drag rakes and a thermal imaging camera to extinguish."

The crews sent their stop message at 2.02pm.
