A decision on the proposal, for the former Shropshire Council site off Oteley Road in Shrewsbury was deferred by the authority's Northern Planning Committee at a meeting in May.

That came after campaigners and councillors on the committee raised a number of concerns over the plans.

They included worries over loss of public sports facilities and claims that there was still demand for the use of the pitch and putt facility.

Other issues raised were worries over the entrance and exit to the site, the provision for 'active travel' to the location, and drainage.

The proposal would see two new entrances added to Oteley Road, as well as an exit onto Hazledine Way.

But, in a report published ahead of the committee's next meeting on July 28, case officer Kelvin Hall, said the concerns have been addressed and recommends councillors give the plans the green light.
