A bird's eye view drawing of how Shrewsbury town centre could look if the masterplan came to fruition

This birds-eye view drawing of how Shrewsbury town centre could look if the new masterplan vision comes to fruition was shared at yesterday’s virtual discussion about the future of the county town.

It shows a new Frankwell bridge shooting over the River Severn into an open area, where the soon-to-be-demolished Riverside Shopping Centre lies, with plenty of greenery.

The Shrewsbury Big Town Festival, which started on Tuesday, involves several talks and presentations about the new masterplan outlining proposals for the future of the town.

The document is aimed at sparking debate and explores a number of ideas.

Civic leaders want to hear the views of the public, and more discussions will take place this week.

The next presentation is titled What’s Next for Town Centres? To listen in, visit festival.shrewsburybigtownplan.org/
