Competition is a roaring success
An Easter event at a Shrewsbury shopping centre proved to be a roaring success when a pride of lions took part in a chocolatey adventure.
Seven little lions arrived at the Darwin Shopping Centre and were joined by Lenny the lion from Shrewsbury Town FC.
After taking part in a social media competition, the winning children got into their lion costumes and received their jungle themed goody bags donated by Shrewsbury shopping, for helping with the task of naming the characters.
Each lion personifies a different personality, and the winning names as chosen by the children were Bold Bea, Resourceful Petals, Thoughtful Theodor, Playful Charlie, Adventurous Nancy, Determined Lenny and Patient Axel.
They participated in a chocolate factory themed event which was held last week.
The Severn Lions will return to the Pride Hill Shopping Centre today (THURS) as part of the free themed sessions running at Shrewsbury Shopping throughout the year for children of primary school age to take part in.
The family-themed programme of Severn Lions Kids Club events will feature alternately at the Pride Hill and Darwin Shopping Centres on Thursdays during May half terms, Easter and the Summer school holidays.
The Severn Lions team will take children through fun, educationally-led journeys, teaching them about the lion characteristics whilst taking part in fun-filled themed sessions such as silly science and nature detectives.
Kevin Lockwood, Shrewsbury shoppings' centre manager said: “The first Easter kids' club was a great success, with hoards of families coming along all day to enjoy the activities, my personal favourite bit was the chocolate fountain.
“We have another Easter themed event on today in Pride Hill where children can design their own sweets, and were hoping to see lots of little faces coming along to join in the holiday fun.”
