Woman in 60s suffers minor injuries in two-car crash in Oswestry

A woman in her 60s was left with injuries after two cars collided in Oswestry.

Emergency services rushed to the scene of Salop Road, Oswestry, after reports of a two-car collision, with one vehicle coming to a stop after hitting a wall at around 5.30pm on Monday. 

The Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service dispatched three appliances to the scene from Ellesmere, Oswestry and Wellington, as well as an operations officer. 

On arrival, crews discovered two women, the drivers of the cars. One of the drivers, in her 60s, sustained minor injuries and was taken to hospital.

A Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "The incident is a two-vehicle road traffic collision with one vehicle colliding with a small brick wall."

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 5.36pm to a road traffic collision involving two cars on Salop Road. One ambulance and a paramedic officer attended the scene. Upon arrival we found two women who were the drivers of the cars.

"The first woman had sustained injuries not believed to be serious. She was conveyed to Royal Shrewsbury Hospital for further assessment.

"The second woman was assessed and was believed to be uninjured. She received self-care advice from ambulance staff before being discharged at the scene. No further patients required treatment.”
