Gift of life for Oliver
All parents are full of pride when their children do well at sports day or in a match or tournament but Emma Lawrence has more reason than most to enjoy watching son Oliver.
In the summer of 2013 Oliver Harrison was on a heart transplant list, unable even to walk up stairs.
He had been born with only one side of his heart functioning and, when he was three days old, had his first, open heart surgery.
After his transplant in the August the nine-year-old has gone from strength to strength, now able to play football and becoming a keen sprinter.
Emma is a passionate supporter of the Organ Donation Register.
"In August 2013 one amazing brave family gave Oli the gift of life," she said.
"Without Oli's heart transplant we would of lost our darling son and our younger son, Harry would have lost his beautiful sibling.
"Awareness of your loved one's wishes are just vital so people's lives can be saved, please join the Organ Donor register - the gift of life is the greatest gift of all."
"Life has changed for us all since Oli's operation.
"We can now do so much more as a family - holidays and day trips that were just impossible before the transplant.
"Harry now has an older brother who can play football with him and we can look forward to the future."
Emma said he was delighted that the number of people on the organ donation register in Shropshire had grown by such a large amount.
