The images on John Leonard Rampton's devices were uncovered in 2022 by his ex-wife, who called police, a court heard on Friday.

Rampton, of Forden near Welshpool, had denied downloading the images, but was found guilty of three counts of amassing images in all three categories - including 63 of the most serious, category A – by a jury in December.

Salisbury Crown Court was told that 45-year-old Rampton, a father-of-two, had downloaded the images over a seven-year period, which began in 2014, using the username Lolita123.

Police found 63 category A images, 43 category B images, and 616 category C images on three devices, including an iPhone, the court was told.
