Black Hall Lodges, near Knighton, won a coveted Heart of England award in the small park category at the annual Hoseasons conference at the Hilton Hotel in Brighton.

Among the famous faces that were there to celebrate was comedian Alan Carr, multiple Olympic gold medal winning cyclist Sir Chris Hoy and writer and former MP Gyles Brandreth.

The Diamond awards are presented to self-catering holiday businesses in the UK that have achieved the highest scores throughout the year, based on the results of independent customer service satisfaction reviews.

Andrew Beavan, who owns the lodges with wife Sharon, said: "We enjoyed our long trip down south and were treated to inspiring talks given by Sir Chris Hoy and Gyles Brandreth during the conference. Our awards evening consisted of a gala dinner and awards presented by Alan Carr. It was a change for me to get out of my farming overalls and into a suit.”

Sharon added: “We are thrilled to have won the 2019 award. We try so hard as a family to make our guests holiday extra special and to keep them returning year on year. Awards like this really make all the hard work worthwhile. We are looking forward to another successful season in 2020!”

Black Hall Lodges is a family run business, which opened 17 years ago in the South Shropshire AONB. It consists of 19 luxury lodges all with hot tubs offering short breaks. Andrew and Sharon built the lodge site on their working organic farm and are open 365 days of the year.
