The alarm was raised just before 5pm today with 999 calls saying the occupant was in the house in Love Lane.

Three fire crews from Bridgnorth, Much Wenlock and Telford Central went to the scene and discovered the woman had been rescued prior to their arrival.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus quickly put out the fire which was in the kitchen of the home.

Paramedics checked the householder over and the Red Cross Emergency Response team also attended to support her.

Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service said the cause of the fire was accidental.
