First place lamb sold for 950 gns

A catalogue sale of 42 pedigree Suffolk in-lamb ewes and ewe lambs was held on behalf of the Shropshire and Montgomery Area Suffolk Club.

A top price of 950gns was paid for a ewe lamb bred and presented by Mr and Mrs John Pryce, of Prenafal, Trefnanney and bought by Mr D Jones of Grongoy, Llananon.

This ewe lamb was awarded first place and overall champion by the judge, Mr G Windsor, Churchstoke.

The reserve champion was also awarded to the Pryce family for a ewe born in 2002 sold for 300gns and was bought by DS and CM Edwards, Penybryn, Llanrwst.

A dispersal sale of 30 pedigree texel in-lamb ewes by order of JF Richardson, Wern Mill also took place with a yearling ewe selling for 210gns.

Other leading prices 190gns (x2) 170gns (x2). Two year old ewes peaked at 130gns with three year old ewes selling to 150gns.

1,800gns tops texel ewes

Welshpool report on the highly successful sale of pedigree texel in-lamb ewes held at Welshpool on December 8. Of the 104 catalogued 95 were forward on the day resulting in 83 being sold realising a clearance of 87.3 per cent.

The senior ewes averaged £141 with 350gns leading the price board in this section. The yearling ewes averaged £229 with 1,800gns being the top price of the day.
