Sale a big success
Auctioneers Nock Deigh-ton Agricultural LLP of Bridgnorth are pleased to report an enormously successful live and deadstock dispersal sale held at Detton Hall Farm, near Cleobury Mortimer.
The sale was a genuine dispersal sale on behalf of Messrs E. C. Ratcliff who are retiring from farming and for whom Nock Deighton Agricultural had already sold the farm.
The Ratcliff family had farmed at Detton Hall since 1952 and had an enviable reputation for the quality of their livestock and the maintenance of their machinery, and this was reflected in the extensive national and international interest in the sale.
Much of the machinery had been purchased new and stored undercover which contributed to the excellent results achieved.
For the machinery the leading prices included: 2000 Ford New Holland 110-90 tractor (£17,500), 1999 Matbro TR200 loader (£14,500), 1986 Clayson New Holland 8055 combine (£6,200) 1986 Ford 8210 tractor (£4,600), 1985 Ford 7610 tractor (£4,600), 1981 Ford 6600 tractor (£3,650), 1978 Tiger 100 tractor (£1,950), 2002 Kawasaki 2510 Diesel Mule (£5,200), 2004 Ifor Williams DP120 livestock trailer (£2,350), 2004 Kuhn FC243 mower conditioner (£4,400) and 1989 New Holland 570 small baler (£2,900).
A large quantity of fodder also sold extremely well, 300 tons grass silage in clamp £4,700, square bale silage to £18 per bale, round bale straw to £6.38 per bale, small bale straw to £1.30 per bale, small bale hay to £3.20 per bale.
Likewise, the cattle attracted widespread interest and achieved a blistering trade including six Belgium Blue steers, 22-27 months (£745 each), six Belgium Blue steers, 22-23 months (£678), three Simmental steers, 25 months (£748), three Charolais steers, 22-28 months (£728), three Simmental steers, 25-27 months (£725) and three Limousin steers, 19-21 months (£560).
