Driver trapped in car after north Shropshire crash

A woman in her 20s was taken to hospital after a two-car crash.

A Fiesta and Peugeot collided at St Michael's Way, Childs Ercall, near Market Drayton, shortly before 2pm yesterday.

Firefighters had to prise the two cars apart to free the driver, who was taken to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.

Maria Wilkinson, spokeswoman for West Mercia Police, said the Fiesta driver complained of chest pains and an ambulance was called. She said the female driver of the Peugeot was not injured."

Fire crews from Hodnet, Market Drayton and Wellington were at the scene for about 40 minutes.

Suzie Fothergill, spokeswoman for West Midlands Ambulance service, said: "The injuries are not believed to be serious."

Meanwhile, a cyclist was injured after hitting a parked Jaguar in Shrewsbury.

It happened in New Street, outside the Boathouse Pub, at about 3pm yesterday

The road was blocked for a short time while the man, believed to be in his 20s, was treated for minor injuries and did not need to go to hospital.
