Covid couldn’t stop the relaunch of Concord College’s popular student house pool competition said to have been ‘thoroughly enjoyed’ by competitors and supporters.

For safety reasons, the competition was for boarding students only.

But students in the same year group ‘bubbles’ were welcome and supported their friends.

Games were played with a ‘best of three frames’ rule with four players – boys and girls – per team and per year group bubble to be Covid-safe.

Sports hall manager Will Harrison said: “We are very pleased to add this event to this year’s inter-house schedule after several years without it. It’s a good competition that students enjoy and engage with.”

Mandela House reigned victorious winning all three matches and house captain Hazel Lim, 18, said: “I am proud that the team has won some valuable house points towards the yearly inter-house trophy through the house pool competition.

“I was also delighted to see students still engaging in house events despite the Covid-19 situation.

"It is extremely vital that these events are still being organised since it unites the concord community and takes our minds off the busy workload.

“I look forward to more events being organised in the near future.”
