Firefighters came to the rescue of four youngsters who got stuck in a lift at a Shropshire school.
The Year 7 students had been on their way to a science lesson when they got stuck in a lift at Sir John Talbot's Technology College in Whitchurch at 10.45am yesterday.
The school today praised the "absolutely outstanding" way in which the children coped with the situation and the efforts of staff and firefighters.
Assistant headteacher Olivia Glackin said the children had been in the lift for about 25 minutes and a member of staff had been outside the lift talking to them the whole time.
"Basically, we had a student who was on crutches so to get him up to the next floor in the science block he was able to use the lift and another student was allocated to go with him, but then two other students went in and the lift got stuck," she said.
"There was a bit of an adventure. We called the fire brigade, they came out and they were brilliant.
"We are just really really pleased as to how the staff, students and everybody conducted themselves because they were absolutely great."
