Man avoids immediate jail but is ordered to pay after admitting harassment charge

A Telford man has been handed a suspended prison sentence after pleading guilty to causing another person harassment, alarm or distress.

Liam Prendergast, aged 33, of Farm Lodge Grove, Telford, admitted the charge at Telford Magistrates Court on Tuesday November 7.

Magistrates heard that the offence had taken place on May 20 this year in Telford.

Prendergast was handed a six-week jail sentence that has been suspended for 12 months.

He was also ordered to pay his victim £50 compensation, and prosecution costs of £135, after the magistrates took his guilty plea into account.
