Man and teenager assaulted in Telford park

A 13-year-old boy and a man in his 50s were both injured after being assaulted in a Telford park.

Officers from West Mercia Police are investigating a report of two assaults in the park in Woodcroft, Woodside on April 29.

The first incident involved a 13-year-old boy who was in the park with two friends at around 2.40pm last Saturday when he was approached by a group.

One of the group is reported to have hit the victim causing injuries to his face and shoulder.

The second incident took place shortly afterwards and involved a man in his 50s, who approached the group. After a "verbal altercation" police say he is understood to have been assaulted by an individual in the group.

He suffered head and facial injuries and was treated by a paramedic.

Two 16-year-old boys, an 18-year-old man and a 12-year-old boy, all from Telford, have been arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and have been released under investigation.

Officers want to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time or who witnessed either incident.
