New Newtown DIY store creates 13 jobs

Thirteen new jobs will be created when DIY and trades retailer Screwfix opens its first store in Newtown.

The home improvement chain will officially open ithe store on February 18.

The Pool Road branch will create an additional 13 jobs and is part of the company's ongoing expansion plans.

Rich Rollinson, Newtown store manager, said he was proud of the contribution the new store has made to employment figures in the region.

He said: "We've created 13 brand new vacancies and have employed local people from around the Newtown area.

"Our new team includes people of all ages and levels of experience, but the most important requirement is that they have the right attitude and can offer superb customer service.

"Everyone here is really looking forward to the store opening."

Tradesmen and DIYers are all invited to attend the Newtown store's opening where they can also demonstrate their professional skills in a free-to-enter screw drilling competition. The fastest time wins a 40-inch smart TV.

Throughout the store's launch celebration period from February 18-21, all product ranges will carry a 10 per cent discount among other store-specific special offers.

Mr Rollinson added: "I'm confident that we've got a great location here in Newtown. My team and I have already been out and about getting to know local businesses and tradesmen and we've all been struck by how friendly everyone has been.
