Mick EbsworthTelford Business Against Crime has appointed Mick Ebsworth as its new chairman.

And as head of security at Capgemini's Aspire business, Mr Ebworth believes he is in prime position to promote his crime cracking agenda.

With crime levels in Telford and Wrekin now the lowest for many years, the security chief of the town's largest private sector employer has released his aims for the future.

He said TBAC will be the "business voice" to liaise with police, fire, council and community organisations to help reduce crime and continue its downward trend; work with businesses on the potential impact of business crime; work towards a safer business environment and offer support to organisations in cutting crime.

Mick said: "We want to reach out to the people who live and work in Telford & Wrekin and make this an even safer place to be. My vision is to build on the success of TBAC and reach out to both employers and employees and help them to take the vital steps which can promote a crime free workplace.

"Crime trends are down. We need to push the positive message that Telford is a great place to live and work to encourage new investment."

TBAC will continue to run seminars giving advice to companies on how they can take action to cut crime in their organisation.

"Metal thefts are the biggest problem in the area. We want to advise firms so they donÕt become a victim," said Mick, who plans to make TBAC an even more successful organisation over the next two years.

Thefts of office equipment and sat navs are also on the hit list for the anti crime campaigners who work with police and Neighbourhood Watch to keep businesses informed about incidents of crime with advice on how to prevent it in their company.

Capgemini has launched campaigns within its own organisation in Telford giving staff advice on identity theft, domestic violence and Crimestoppers, which tackles crime with public support.

The next TBAC meeting will be held at the offices of the TTC Group, a national driver education organisation, at Hadley Park, Telford in September. Contact Nicola Rees at the TTC Group on 0845 270 4380 to register your business to receive more information.
