Money saving expert and GMTV presenter Martin Lewis is joining the Shropshire Star as a columnist, sharing his top tips for shoring up cash.The television and radio journalist will be writing for the newspaper's Business Star supplement, fresh from his role at the forefront of the successful campaign with High Street banks over their excessive charges.
Martin is a best selling author and creator of www.MoneySavingExpert.com as well as having his own prime time show It Pays to Watch on Five.
He also has a regular slot on LK Today as well as presenting on consumer and money-related issues for GMTV.
The 35-year-old, who has written best-sellers The Money Diet, Three Lessons & Thrifty Ways, will be tackling issues faced by ordinary families.
Martin began his website in 2003 for £100 and by 2007, attracted nearly 2.5 million users a month. The website covers the best deals on cards, loans as well as tips on bargain shopping, travel, insurance and utility bills.
He was one of the most vocal campaigners to get High Street banks to reduce their charges for unauthorised overdrafts, a battle won in the High Court.
In his first column in Monday's Business Star, Martin will be looking at how safe our savings are with banks and building societies. And, he'll also be offering regular tips to get the most from your cash without splashing out.
