Bundles of joy: New arrivals at Black Country Hospitals bring delight to parents and families

Black Country babies gave their parents a Christmas present they will never forget when they arrived today.

There was joy in the early hours of Christmas morning as baby Toby gave mum and dad an unexpected present.

Proud mum and dad Emily and Jason Gallear have had to change their seasonal plans slightly to accommodate their first baby who was due to be born on December 16. Emily was induced on Monday in Wolverhampton's New Cross Hospital and labour started last night.

Toby was finally born at 1.50am this morning, weighing seven pounds 14 ounces.

Emily and Jason, from Cannock was the first new arrival of Christmas Day at New Cross and Emily said: "The support we received at the hospital was wonderful and it's special that Toby was born on Christmas day - it’s a nice story to tell him when he’s older.

"We usually have a family get together over Christmas but this year we’ll have our celebrations a bit later.”

Over at Walsall Manor Hospital, another Christmas Day arrival was little girl, Rehmat Kaur.

Rehamat was born to mum Harmanjeet Kaur and husband Jaswant and arrived at 6.06am weighing seven pounds one ounce.

Harmanjeet said her daughter was due om December 31 but she seemed to be determined to pick a significant day to make her entrance to the world and her two big sisters were looking forward to meeting her..

She said:  "They can’t wait to come and see her, and this has added to the excitement they’re already feeling as it’s Christmas and they’re on school holidays,” she said.“I’ve got two little helpers for when we go home which will hopefully be tomorrow.”

The first baby born at Russell';s Hall Hospital in Dudley came in just 41 minutes into Christmas Day.

Jovan was born at 12.41am weighing six pounds eleven ounces to parent Neena and Gorvish who sad they were "delighted"
