Funeral date for man found with head injuries in Market Drayton

The funeral of a man who died after being discovered with severe head injuries in Market Drayton town centre will be held next week.

Graham Whittingham was discovered by a member of the public in Smithfield Road, at about 12.08am on June 16 and investigations are continuing to discover how he was hurt.

The 58-year-old from Market Drayton, was taken to Royal Stoke University Hospital but died.

Mr Whittingham's funeral will be held at 2.30pm on August 30 at St Oswald's Church in Hinstock.

The family have requested family flowers only but any donations will be divided between St Oswald's Church and the Critical Care Unit at the Royal Stoke Hospital.

Paul Roberts, spokesman for West Mercia Police, said: "West Mercia Police is continuing to investigate the incident on behalf of the coroner and a report will be sent in due course.

"The incident is not currently being treated as suspicious and we await the final post mortem report."
