M54 lane closed after car catches fire

One lane of the motorway was closed between junctions five and six after fire crews were called to put out the blaze, which broke out at about 1.20pm as the car travelled on the westbound carriageway towards Shrewsbury.

Firefighters used a water jet and breathing apparatus to put out the fire by about 2pm.

One westbound lane was closed between Forge Roundabout at junction five and the Ketley Dingle Interchange at junction six. It has now reopened.
