Man taken to hospital after agricultural machinery catches fire in Market Drayton

A man has been taken to hospital after a fault caused an agricultural machine to catch fire.

Fire control received a call reporting a fire in an agricultural building near Market Drayton today.

Two fire crews from Hodnet and Market Drayton were sent to Tyrley Road at about 10am.

A spokesman for Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "The fire involved agricultural machinery and elephant grass within an agricultural building.

"There was no damage to the building and slight damage to the industrial shredder.

"The fire was caused by a fault with the machine.

"One man was taken to hospital suffering with smoke inhalation.

"Crews damped down the area after."

Firefighters left the scene about 10.20am.

Claire Brown, spokeswoman for West Midland Ambulance Service, said: "We were called at 10.20am.

"One ambulance was sent to the scene to treat a man in his 40's who had smoke inhalation.

"He was taken the Princess Royal Hospital in Telford."
