It happened at about 1.30pm yesterday.

Western Distribution Power said an investigation was being carried out to find out what caused the loss of supply at about 1.30pm yesterday.

A spokeswoman for the company said: "Some 670 properties were affected at 1.30pm. Seventy had their power restored in two minutes and 589 were back on within an hour. The last 11 properties had their power restored within an hour and a half.

"We are still investigating the cause."
