Runner's World magazine has for the fourth year running ranked the Market Drayton 10K as the UK's best 10k race. The award recognises the race for being well organised, good value for money and accessible to people of all abilities.

Tim Beckett, one of the organisers, said: "We are over the moon to win the award for the fourth year running. We were quite well clear of the others, which included Leeds in second and the London Winter Run in third.

"To remain on top after so many years is really pleasing."

In the magazine it says: "While it's neither a big-city extravaganza nor an eccentrically quirky fun run, it hits the spot. It's beautifully but unfussily organised, busy, accessible to all levels, and great value for money."

All 2,300 spots for the 2016 Market Drayton 10k were taken up within nine weeks of entries opening. The race will take place on May 8.

Mr Beckett added: "We aim to make the race even better for 2016, offering our usual goodies including medal, technical T-shirt, Muller yoghurts, Pork Farms rolls, gingerbread, cereal bars as well as entertainment and stalls. There will be more buses at the park-and-ride to speed up the time for them to get to the race. We are also hoping to get a celebrity to start the race."
