Bid to build 45 homes in village near Telford

Dozens of homes could be built in a village near Telford, under new plans lodged with the local authority.

Up to 45 homes have been planned to the north of Walton Avenue in High Ercall.

An outline planning application has been submitted to Telford & Wrekin Council to build the two-storey homes, which would be a mixture of two, three and four-bedroom properties.

About 15 homes would come under the category of affordable housing, the developers say.

A report lodged with the application said: "The scheme will incorporate both open market and affordable dwellings.

"It is proposed that 33 per cent of the dwellings (15 dwellings based on a total of 45 dwellings) would be affordable.

"The affordable housing would, subject to the provisions of the Finance Act 2015 and any requirements arising from the Housing and Planning Bill, comprise 80 per cent social rented and 20 per cent intermediate housing.

"The remaining dwellings would be open market housing."

A decision on the proposals is expected to be made by the council in the upcoming months.

If approved, a full planning application will need to get the nod before work can go ahead.
