Newtown woman jailed for attack in seafront block of flats
A man and Mid Wales woman who carried out a "sustained and vicious" New Year's Eve attack on a neighbour at a seafront block of flats have been jailed.
Victim Tom O'Dowd had multiple injuries to the face after the assault in Llandudno.
His left eye was severely damaged and the visual prognosis was "extremely poor," a judge said.
At Caernarfon Crown Court, the prosecution described how there was extensive blood splattering on the walls and ceiling of 35-year-old Matthew Bruce's flat in East Parade.
Bruce admitted causing grievous bodily harm and was jailed for two years.
Shona Hawkins, 45, of Lon Pantyllyn, Newtown, was jailed for 18 months after also admitting the offence.
Recorder Wyn Lloyd Jones said the assailants were under the influence of drink.
Bruce punched the victim at least three times and Hawkins accepted two blows.
Mr Paulinus Barnes, prosecuting, said the defendants had met at a rehabilitation centre and Hawkins was staying at Bruce's flat.
During New Year's Eve Mr O'Dowd, 50, went to the flat upstairs to request that the sound of music be turned down. But later that evening the victim was attacked.
Mr Barnes said Mr O'Dowd had multiple facial injuries and a perforated left eye.
Mr Matthew Curtis, for Bruce, said there was genuine remorse.
Mr Simon Killeen, for Hawkins, said: "Her case has always been that this had been an attack started by her co-defendant."
