Motorcyclist airlifted to hospital after crash closes road
A motorcyclist was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries after a crash which caused a main road to be closed.
The man suffered head injuries after his motorcycle was involved in a crash with a car at 7.34am on the A470 at Clatter, Caersws, near Newtown.
He was treated at the scene before being flown to the University Hospital of North Staffordshire.
The female driver of the car involved suffered no injuries.
The road was closed for an hour as emergency services worked at the scene.
Katy Simmons, Dyfed-Powys Police spokeswoman, said: "Police attended a two vehicle road traffic collision on the A470, near Clatter.
"The collision between a Lexmoto motorcycle and a Suburu car was reported to police and officers were on scene at 7.34am this morning.
"The air ambulance conveyed the male motorcyclist to hospital with head injuries. The road reopened at 8.35am."
Richard Timothy, Wales Ambulance Service spokesman, added: "We were called at 7.19am to reports of a road traffic collision between a motorcycle and car on the A470 in the Caersws area.
"We responded with an emergency ambulance and an air ambulance and a male patient has been conveyed by air ambulance to University Hospital of North Staffordshire with serious injuries."
